The American division of Isuzu trucks recently announced that they have begun production at their Fujisawa plant after production was disrupted since the devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami which struck Japan early in March.

Isuzu’ Fujisawa plant produces diesel components and engines as well as their N Series trucks for their market in North America and commercial parts and vehicles for their worldwide market. The Fujisawa plant first opened its doors on January, 1962.

All the production operations were stalled at this plant till March 28, after which testing of production equipment took place by using vehicles which were already in the process of production. According to the director and executive VP of Isuzu Motors Ltd., Ryozo Tsukioka, they have confirmed whether the equipments were functioning normally, and whether they could begin with the trial production according to plan.

Production at this plant will build up gradually to its earlier level as the availability of parts supply and electricity continue to remain inconsistent. As a result of this, Isuzu will soon release a timetable about their return toward full production capacity sometime soon.

The general manager and executive VP of Isuzu’s American division, Shaun C. Skinner, said that they are very grateful Isuzu Motors Ltd. has taken steps to ensure that vehicle productions resumes safely. They know that their customers and dealers have understood that it will be some time before the normal schedules of vehicle distribution begin, and they have appreciated their patience, now that production has commenced.

Many major Japanese auto manufacturers had their production affected as their plants based in Japan were struck by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami. Moreover, many American and foreign auto manufacturers had to stall or delay their production because of late supply of parts and components from their Japanese plants.

Trailmobile is a Canadian manufacturer of trailer bodies for trucks. They used to manufacture a wide array of trailer models till they were discontinued. They made many trailer bodies for use in storage and cargo delivery. Trailmobile Trailers are known for being durable. They were designed for efficiency, longevity as well as to be low maintenance, helping the operator to reduce his operational costs.

The Trailmobile Frpvan trailer body was produced in the year 2006. This trailer body measured 28 ft in length. The height of this trailer box was 13 feet 6 inches, while the box had a width of 102 inches, which gave it a wide storage space.

To make this trailer body, smoother to handle and increase its loading capacity, Trailmobile Trailers provided this trailer box with an air ride type suspension. While this trailer box did not have a lift gate in the end, it had two swinging doors at the rear for access to the storage box. The tires of the Trailmobile Frpvan truck measure 22.5.

The exterior body was white in color, while the body of this trailer box was composed of aluminum. This made the Trailmobile Frpvan truck light weight, which in turn helped to increase the load capacity of this trailer box.

The Trailmobile Storage was popular because it was not only light weight but also had a great storage capacity. The company’s 1969 storage model was also of aluminum composition. This storage moving van body measured 38 feet in length, 96 inches in width and 13 feet and 6 inches. It was given a spring type suspension. The tires of this trailer measure 24.5.

This Trailmobile Storage was fixed with branded Budd wheels and had a fixed tandem axle. For access to the storage box, a large roll up door was located in the rear. The trailer flooring was made of wood. This storage trailer from Trailmobile was meant to be a furniture van which was set low to the ground. There is also a rear door located overhead.

The Trailmobile Storage was white in color. The inside of the storage box trailer also had three small and short platforms for storing. The storage area is also pass through for better access when loading and unloading.

Many major Japanese truck manufacturers are yet to begin production. According to the top executives of the U.S. divisions for three of Japan’s manufacturers of commercial trucks, the production at the truck plants of their parent companies is yet to begin as a result of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami, one of their worst natural disasters to hit Japan.

All of the three OEM’s, Mitsubishi Fuso, Isuzu and Hino introduced new models of their trucks at the recently concluded work truck show by NTEA, in Indianapolis. According to the GM & VP of Isuzu’s American division, Shaun Skinner, the damage to their Tochigi and Fujisawa plants was marginal. However, the decision was taken to have both the plants idle because of prolonged concerns for recovery operations as well as the need of electrical power being more to those who are in need.

He also continued, that additionally, their Japanese team is continuing to work out the impact faced by their parts suppliers. He believes that they will get a better picture of the situation by next week, regarding the impact faced by their supply chain as well as understand the overall disruption caused to their production.

Skinner also said that a week ago the port supply and dealer stock of their trucks in America was quite good, however it is impossible right now, to know how much disruption, if any, will be faced in production. Meanwhile, the VP of dealer operations and marketing for Hino’s American division, Glenn Ellis, said that till yesterday, there were no disruptions faced to their WV plant in Williamston. Their plants in Japan were closed till Wednesday, while further decision regarding the production at their plants is yet to be taken.

He also states that, Hino Japan is currently working on a regular basis with their supply base and presently, they are not expecting any disruption to their plant based in West Virginia. Ellis has said last week, that many areas around the Japanese plants of Hino Motors were not impacted heavily, however added that some suppliers in this region had been impacted, which could as a result affect other plants by some point, though it was early to predict this.

The CEO and President of Mitsubishi’s American division, Todd Bloom, said that their offices in Japan did not open till Wednesday, as a result of which he could not give any new information. Many American manufacturers were also affected as a result of parts delay from Japan.

Isuzu recently announced that they would be re-launching their N-Series gasoline delivery truck. The production for these trucks already has their date set for April 18 at their production facility at Spartan Motors in Michigan. The gasoline powered NPR which has a GVWR of 12,000 pounds and the NPR-HD trucks which have a GVWR or 14,500 pounds will be available in two different configurations, which are the crew cab and single cab configurations.

The company announced that these vehicles should be ready for arriving at the dealers of Isuzu trucks by the early part of May at the Work Truck Show held by the NTEA. These trucks will be powered by GM’s V8 Vortex 6 liter engine that produces a horsepower of 297 and generates a torque of 372 pounds feet at 4,000 rpm. This engine will be given a powertrain by GM i.e., the automatic six speed transmission.

The general manager and executive VP of Isuzu, Shaun Skinner, said that they are very excited to re-launch their gasoline powered line up of the N Series trucks in the marketplace, with their new automatic six speed transmission which will help to improve the performance as well as the fuel economy of these trucks. At this show, Isuzu also revealed about a new commercial delivery truck that they would be producing in partnership with the Utilimaster Corporation, which is a subsidiary of the Spartan Motors.

The full production of these Reach commercial delivery trucks is slated to commence during the second half of this year. The Reach truck will have a chassis of the NPR Eco-Max and be powered by a diesel 3 liter engine from Isuzu. Skinner added that the Reach truck is the ideal delivery walk-in truck built for the contemporary market.

This is because of the powertrain by Isuzu which offers a great fuel efficiency as well as durability, and on top of that the frame, braking systems, steering and suspension are of a true commercial grade. The vocational buyers and fleets of today look for a truck that has a low ownership costs, which is the Reach is able to deliver on. This delivery truck reaches a new standard in low ownership costs which no other commercial delivery truck can match.

The applications offered with the Reach include delivery fleets and a package; contractors, air conditioning and heating technicians, cleaning services, plumbers, florists, electricians, storage and moving companies as well as delivery and appliance repair firms.

Toyota, a Japanese automobile company began in the year 1937. Today, it is one of the foreign automobile companies, which is given America’s big three companies a run for their money. The company has also made its presence felt in other markets apart from its home country and America, which have greatly boosted the sales of the company.

From the different vehicles that the company has to offer, it is Toyota trucks which have made their presence felt in the American market. The company’s pick up trucks have gained a lot of popularity in the trucking industry, in spite of the repeated recalls which have plagued the consumers of Toyota’s products in the recent past.

A full size truck, the Toyota Tundra was first introduced in the market in 2000. This truck is considered to be one of the first brands of full size truck to be imported to the American market. This Toyota trucks 2011 version, comes in a choice of four different engines to choose from, three of which are V8 i-FORCE engines.

The 5.7 liter V8 Toyota Tundra engine delivers a horsepower of 381 at 5,600 rpm and a torque of 401 pounds feet at 3,600 rpm. There are again four different drivetrain options to choose from, two of which range from the 5 speed to the 6 speed option. The suspension used in the Toyota Tundra is that of a coil spring; front independent double wishbone which is high mounted and has a stabilizer bar with nitrogen gas low pressure shocks. The rear suspension is that of a multi leaf trapezpoidal one.

The Toyota Tacoma is a mid sized pick up truck model. This truck was first produced in the year 1995. The truck has been named after Tacoma city in Washington, America. For these Toyota trucks, you can choose between two different engine options, the 4 cylinder 2.7 liter DOHC engine which has VVT-I, which delivers 159 hp and 10 pounds feet of torque, or the 4.0 liter V6 engine with VVT-I which delivers 236 hp and 266 pounds feet of torque.

The Toyota Tacoma has a system of four wheel drive. This is a low emission vehicle. It has a huge array of transmissions to choose from, which include two manual options and two electronic options. The Toyota Tacoma has a double wishbone coil spring front suspension and a leaf spring rear suspension, with shock absorbers of gas which are staggered mounted on the outboard.

Ford recently issued more recalls for their Ford Ranger and F Series of pick up trucks. The company will be recalling around 23,688 trucks of the Ford Ranger model of the year 2010. This is because of the fact that the fuel line’s protective cover may not be installed properly, according to the report released from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The vehicles which are affected were built during October 15, 2009 and May 19 of last year. The edge of the shield of the throttle body may come into contact with the fuel line and cause it to chaff. This could lead to a fuel leak and odor arising. In case of an ignition source being present, there could also be a fire. To make sure about your vehicles condition, you can check the build date of your car which you will find on a label attached to the doorjamb on the driver’s side.

The recall of these Ford vehicles is expected to take place from Monday. Dealers will then trim the affected trucks’ shield of the throttle body so that it is not too close to the fuel line. They will also check these fuel lines for other signs of damage or wear and will also replace them if necessary free of charge. Owners of these vehicles can also contact Ford or the hotline number of NHTSA. Ford has also recalled 8,022 vehicles of the model year 2011, which also includes some pick up trucks of the Ford F Series.

The reason behind this recall according to the NHTSA is because of an electrical short which can develop in the module of the body control and result in a fire. The vehicles which are being recalled are that of the 2011 F-250, F-150, F-450, F-350, F-550, Ford Edge as well as Lincoln MKX. These vehicles were built from the period of October 25 to November 20 of last year.

These affected vehicles were also inspected previously as a part of their previous recall campaign, which made use of a diagnostic system for checking of the module of the body control needed a replacement, based upon its serial number. However, the custom software of the system did not read the proper characters set and hence could not ascertain if a replacement was needed for the module of the body control.
