Isuzu recently announced that they would be re-launching their N-Series gasoline delivery truck. The production for these trucks already has their date set for April 18 at their production facility at Spartan Motors in Michigan. The gasoline powered NPR which has a GVWR of 12,000 pounds and the NPR-HD trucks which have a GVWR or 14,500 pounds will be available in two different configurations, which are the crew cab and single cab configurations.
The
company announced that these vehicles should be ready for arriving at the dealers of Isuzu trucks by the early part of May at the Work Truck Show held by the NTEA. These trucks will be powered by GM’s V8 Vortex 6 liter engine that produces a horsepower of 297 and generates a torque of 372 pounds feet at 4,000 rpm. This engine will be given a powertrain by GM i.e., the automatic six speed transmission.
The general manager and executive VP of Isuzu, Shaun Skinner, said that they are very excited to re-launch their gasoline powered line up of the N Series trucks in the marketplace, with their new automatic six speed transmission which will help to improve the performance as well as the fuel economy of these trucks. At this show, Isuzu also revealed about a new commercial delivery truck that they would be producing in partnership with the Utilimaster Corporation, which is a subsidiary of the Spartan Motors.
The full production of these Reach commercial delivery trucks is slated to commence during the second half of this year. The Reach truck will have a chassis of the NPR Eco-Max and be powered by a diesel 3 liter engine from Isuzu. Skinner added that the Reach truck is the ideal delivery walk-in truck built for the contemporary market.
This is because of the powertrain by Isuzu which offers a great fuel efficiency as well as durability, and on top of that the frame, braking systems, steering and suspension are of a true commercial grade. The vocational buyers and fleets of today look for a truck that has a low ownership costs, which is the Reach is able to deliver on. This delivery truck reaches a new standard in low ownership costs which no other commercial delivery truck can match.
The applications offered with the Reach include delivery fleets and a package; contractors, air conditioning and heating technicians, cleaning services, plumbers, florists, electricians, storage and moving companies as well as delivery and appliance repair firms.
